“The size and quality of your network determines the level of your success,” he said
Born in May 1979, his childhood, marked by travelling and relocating in South Africa, taught him to adapt to change on a regular basis. His first encounter with money came at a young age and he always sought the opportunity to increase this by either operating the scoreboard at the local rugby club, recycling bottles or delivering newspapers.
Said Francois: “Entrepreneurship did not even come to mind, all I was doing was helping others, having a great time and getting some money for it”.
All throughout his school years, he performed at a high level; elected as head boy in primary and secondary school and captained the first cricket team. In matric, he received honorary colours for his achievements and contributions in academic, sport and culture.
After matric, he obtained his BCom (Hons) Accounting degree at the University of Pretoria and completed his articles at Deloitte before he completed an 18 months secondment in the United Kingdom.
“Those were great years and it set the perfect platform for me to grow and excel in the business world,” he said.
For the next years, he climbed the corporate ladder and at the age of 32, he was appointed the financial director of a Multi-National Group of Companies, the youngest in the history of the company. He exceeded his own goals but in October 2014, he came to the harsh realisation that he was more focussed on making a living and that his job is keeping him away from what was important in life.
“I thought I was very successful. I had the title, I earned a 7 figure salary and people respected my opinion. But I realised that I needed to create a balance between making a living and how I am living if I am going to make the impact I needed to make and wanted to make as a Father and as a Husband ”
In 2014, he resigned with the sole purpose to make a meaningful difference in people lives and leave a legacy of significance.
He dedicates part of his time mentoring young boys that grow up without a father figure to become good men. Teaching values like Kindness, Respect, Self-Discipline, Honesty and Courage.
Francois adopted and lives by the following: “To accomplish great things; we must not only ACT but also create a VISION. Not only PLAN but also BELIEVE”.
